The design for River Bluff High School is rooted in the concept of creating and supporting a 21st century program and learning environment. This includes the development of highly flexible, collaborative, and personalized spaces that address issues of sustainability and environmentally responsive construction. Design strategies also include an emphasis on creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere helping to mitigate stress and fatigue. This is achieved by the careful selection and use of materials, arrangement of programmatic spaces, and access to natural daylight and views. This shift in the traditional way of thinking, planning, and curriculum pedagogy fosters an educational environment that inspires learning, engenders pride, and engages both students, families, and the local community.
